Terrible tragedies have been taking place in America. Shooting after shooting, and now we are seeing a people begging for something to be done to stop the crime. NBC says “17 school shootings in 45 days.” And the cry for the government to come in, make some gun laws seems to many people to be the solution to the problem. But is there more to this?
In reality the problem is immorality. And many on the right side of the problem are seeing another way to solve the issue rather than gun control. They want to bring back prayer into the schools. They are saying that removing religion from schools has contributed to shootings.
In 2015 Sunday laws were suggested by a Senator after a shooting. From an article entitled ‘Arizona State Senator: Make Sunday Church Attendance Mandatory’ we read:
“In a speech on the state Senate floor during a debate over HB2320, which would allow the carrying of firearms in public buildings by those holding a concealed carry permit, Sen. Sylvia Allen, R-Snowflake, said: “Probably we should be debating a bill requiring every American to attend a church of their choice on Sunday.”
Senator Sylvia Allen said that “People prayed. People went to church. I remember on Sundays the stores were closed. The biggest thing is religion was kicked out of our public places, out of our schools.”
Donald Trump has said it will be hard to unify the country without a major event or crisis. As proved true on 9.11. And he is absolutely right, but the unity that is coming will certainly be more than just uniting the people. It will be a church and state union.
In an article entitled “TRUMP: If I’m president, ‘Christianity will have power’ in the US”
Trump complained that Christians do not wield as much political influence in the US as they could. He said to the evangelical community that “The power of our group of people together, I mean, if you add it up … it could be 240, 250 million. And yet we don’t exert the power that we should have. Now, I think some of the churches are afraid of their tax status, to be honest,” he said.
“But you know the fact is that there is nothing the politicians can do to you if you band together. You have too much power. But the Christians don’t use their power,” Trump said. “We have to strengthen. Because we are getting — if you look, it’s death by a million cuts — we are getting less and less and less powerful in terms of a religion, and in terms of a force,” he continued.
Trump has certainly spent time bringing together the church and the state, some of which has been documented in previous articles. But what is coming out of all of these crisis, whether it be Hurricanes, where Trump declared a national day of prayer on a Sunday. Or 9.11 which was about a week later where he declared 3 more national days of prayer. Or whether it was the national prayer day in May where he signed a declaration for religious liberty and told us how happy it made him to announce that following that he was going to Rome, what is coming out of this all is that the pen of power is being given to the church and they are beginning to wield the legislative sword of the state.
Perhaps the power being spoken of that he wants Christianity to use is nothing short of the power spoken of in Revelation 13. In Revelation 13:2 we are told regarding the beast or Papacy, that “the dragon gave him his power”. In Revelation 13:5 we read that “he had power to continue forty and two months” and in Revelation 13:12 regarding America, the lamblike beast that speaks like a dragon we are told that he “exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.”
Trump believes the church has too little power.
“Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones… Thefts and murders are committed on every hand. Men possessed of demons are taking the lives of men, women, and little children. Men have become infatuated with vice, and every species of evil prevails.” { Ellen White 9T 11.3}
In the Great Controversy we were told that these things would come. Gun laws attacking the constitution one way, free speech in another, religious laws in another way.
“Our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government.” (Ellen White 5 Testimonies 451)
“And the Constitution guarantees to the people the right of self-government, providing that representatives elected by the popular vote shall enact and administer the laws. Freedom of religious faith was also granted, every man being permitted to worship God according to the dictates of his conscience. Republicanism and Protestantism became the fundamental principles of the nation. These principles are the secret of its power and prosperity.” (Ellen White Great Controversy Page 441)
The constitutional republic is the secret to the nation’s power and prosperity. Congress is to make no law respecting a religion. Furthermore, they are to uphold the constitution and the second amendment. George Washington said that “Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.” George Washington First President of the United States
However, lawmakers are on a warpath right now. We read an article saying South Carolina lawmakers want prayer back in school. This is a religious law.
There should be no law either way. A law against prayer is unconstitutional. A law for prayer is unconstitutional. The first amendment is the secret that many have forgotten. Tolerance for the second amendment is definitely wearing away, and soon, just as has been predicted over 100 years ago, every principle of the constitution is already being, and will be repudiated.
Every step in the direction of making religious laws, is a step down that slippery slope that Rome went down when their republic fell and the freedoms disappeared and eventually the Republic was lost and was turned into a tyrannical police state controlled by the church.
