3 Days and 3 nights - What Day did Jesus Die and RessurectWhat day do you think the priest slayed the passover lamb? The 14th of Nisan. "All is terror and confusion. The priest is about to slay the victim; but the knife drops from his nerveless hand, and the lamb escapes. Type has met antitype in the death of God's Son. The great sacrifice has been made. The way into the holiest is laid open. A new and living way is prepared for all. No longer need sinful, sorrowing humanity await the coming of the high priest. Henceforth the Saviour was to officiate as priest and advocate in the heaven of heavens. It was as if a living voice had spoken to the worshipers: There is now an end to all sacrifices and offerings for sin. The Son of God is come according to His word, "Lo, I come (in the volume of the Book it is written of Me,) to do Thy will, O God." "By His own blood" He entereth "in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." Heb. 10:7; 9:12." {DA 757.1} So what day did the knife fall out of the Priests hand when type met antitype? "These types were fulfilled, not only as to the event, but as to the time. On the fourteenth day of the first Jewish month, the very day and month on which for fifteen long centuries the Passover lamb had been slain, "Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy, p. 399. Note that Jesus and the disciples ate the last supper on Thursday evening. Jesus was arrested later that evening. In reading this quote, one might think that Nisan 14 occurred upon a Thursday; however, it must be remembered that Jewish days begin at sunset. Therefore, Nisan 14 began when the sun set on Thursday evening and lasted through to Friday evening. Let's look at what Ellen White said about the DAY they ate the passover. "They had gathered to celebrate the Passover. The Saviour desired to keep this feast alone with the twelve. He knew that His hour was come; He Himself was the true paschal lamb, and ON THE DAY the Passover was eaten He was to be sacrificed"Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 642. So therefore the day they ate the passover meal was the same day of the sacrifice. Thursday evening would be the same biblical day as Friday daytime. So they ate the passover on the day that he was slain because the 14th of Nisan started on Thursday night and continued into Friday. Also lets look at the Great Controversy page 399 regarding the day of resurrection. "These types were fulfilled, not only as to the event, but as to the time. On the fourteenth day of the first Jewish month, the very day and month on which, for fifteen long centuries, the passover lamb had been SLAIN, Christ...taken by wicked hands, to be crucified and SLAIN. And as the ***antitype of the wave-sheaf***, our Lord was raised from the dead on the third day(Which is the 16th).” [Philippians 3:21.]" (GC 399) Christ resurected on the wave sheaf. Lev 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover. So here we have the order.... 14th Crucifixion, 15th in the grave, 16th rose "as the ***antitype of the wave-sheaf***, our Lord was raised from the dead on the third day(Which is the 16th).” [Philippians 3:21.]" (GC 399) Comment and/or Like our Facebook Page
